A non-profit AdoptAVillageSchool.org was established in August, 2007 by Michael Kawai, a Japanese American who lives in Tokyo, Japan. Our program is unique from other charity-based organizations in that our on-location coordinator team consists of a male foreigner married to a local female Thai who is actually from the area we develop our programs. We call them our Thai’Farang coordinators. This combination of foreign and local provides a bridge to understanding the local language, culture and needs and conveying these needs to the rest of the world and donors abroad. Without our Thai’Farang coordinators in place, we would just be blindly donating without really understanding the needs of the local school situation. The last component is the teachers at the village schools. These teachers show a heart-warming dedication to the welfare of their children and are genuinely thrilled by the help that this project is giving them. They are determined to make the very best of your donations so as to ensure that the project continues in their school for the foreseeable future. Without their dedication, we could not have got this far. We wish to help the less fortunate and to make a difference. We hope you can join us in pursuing this dream. Everyone needs a dream. Please contact us if you have questions, suggestions, or would like to donate. Michael Kawai, Director |
